Biometric confirmation of signatures
SignedText.com now supports biometric confirmation of signatures using WebAuthn (Passkeys) technology. This modern method brings the highest level of security and user comfort.
What are Passkeys?
Passkeys (access keys) are a replacement for traditional passwords. They are based on WebAuthn and FIDO2 standards and use asymmetric cryptography. Instead of typing a password, biometrics (fingerprint, face scan) or your device's PIN (mobile, tablet or computer) is used to confirm your identity. Biometric data stays on your device.
How does it work?
- Device registration: In your profile, you register your device as a biometric key.
- Document signature: When creating a signature, you will be prompted to confirm on your device.
- Biometric verification: You place your finger or look into the camera. Your device creates a unique cryptographic confirmation that is paired with the specific signature.
Your fingerprint or face serves as a secure key.
Key benefits
Highest security
The cryptographic key never leaves your device. Unlike passwords, it cannot be stolen by phishing or a data leak from the server.
Non‑repudiation
Biometric confirmation is clear proof that it was you who authorized the signature at that moment. This increases the legal weight and credibility of the signature.
Simplicity
No remembering complex passwords. Just one touch or look. It works on modern phones (iOS, Android) and computers (Windows Hello, Touch ID).
Browser demo
When signing with biometric confirmation, a standard system window for identity verification will appear in the browser.
You can also use your mobile phone to confirm a signature created on a computer using a QR code.
